The Plan

I’ve entered the Gaahleri World Creators Cup β€” my first Gunpla competition. And this one isn’t just about building a great kit. It’s about how you show up as a creator through the entire process β€” the decisions you make, the story you tell, the community you bring along for the ride.

Speaking of community… I put the big decisions up to a vote. The followers get to drive how this whole thing goes. The kit, the colors, the direction β€” all of it, up for grabs.

Of course, they chose the Psycho Zaku.

…yikes.

First big YouTube stream today β€” and honestly? I think it went pretty well. I’m not sure if anyone actually saw it, but that’s ok. It’s an interesting new experience.

Today’s session was all about the torso and head units. This kit is something else β€” the detail density is impressive, the engineering is tight, and everything seats exactly where it should. I’m genuinely enjoying the build process, which feels like a miracle given how intimidating the box looked when the community voted it in.

Started clipping parts from the runners and sorting everything into bins. It’s one of my favorite ways to kick off a build β€” you’re not racing to put anything together, you’re just getting to know the kit. Every part that goes into a bin is a part you’ve already held, already thought about. By the time you sit down to build, you’re not a stranger to any of it.

I try to clip clean, but I’m not super cautious about nub cleanup at this stage. That comes later. For now it’s all about getting organized and getting familiar.

Let’s catch you up.

Official GWCC kickoff was May 11. The Gaahleri World Creators Cup isn’t just a building competition β€” it’s about how you function as a creator through the whole process. My approach: The community votes. The community drives. I just have to show up and deliver.

First vote: the theme. After polling my followers, they landed on “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” β€” inspired by the classic children’s book about one spectacularly rough day. It’s a fun, character-driven concept with a lot of creative potential.

Second vote: the kit. I gave the community three choices. They picked the most difficult kit in my entire backlog β€” the MG Psycho Zaku Ver.Ka.

I half expected it. I was secretly hoping for something else. But I gave my word, and here we are.

Timeline is mapped out. Work is underway. Let’s do this.
